The SAT ® Test
The SAT Reasoning Test is standardized test for undergraduate admissions in the United States and other countries in Europe. SAT measures critical thinking skills that are needed for academic success in college. It accesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems. SAT is three hours and 45 minutes long and consists of three major sections: Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing.
Structure of SAT Reasoning Test
Critical Reading:
The Critical Reading section of the SAT is made up of three scored sections, two 25 minutes and one 20 minutes section, with varying types of questions, including sentence completions and questions about short and long reading passages.
Mathematics:
The Mathematics section of the SAT is made up of three scored sections, two 25 minutes and one short section, with majority of multiple choice questions (MCQs) and some grid in problems.
Writing
In the Writing section, the essay sub score contributes about 30% towards the total writing score, with MCQs contributing 70%. MCQs include error identification questions, sentence improvement questions. The essay section, which is always administered as the first section of the test, is 25 minutes long. All essays must be in response to a given prompt.
